Hernia or abdominal mesh, also referred to as a hernia patch or screen, is a product commonly used by surgeons to repair hernias. The surgical mesh is placed either under or over the defect in the abdominal wall and held in place by stitches.

Research studies had found higher rates of hernia recurrence and re-opening compared to similar abdominal mesh products used in hernia repair.
